Our Community

The Meldon Park Estate comprises of circa 80 people living or working on the estate, 3800 acres, 13 farms, 480 acres of woodland, 13 miles of public footpaths/bridleways, 45 residential properties, fishing on the Wansbeck and Font and a small family shoot where small bags are used allowing all that is shot to be eaten.

It is this community we aim to strengthen and support through new business, more readily available suitable housing whilst protecting our natural environment and species.

We are lucky to have on the estate a strong community feeling whereby we work together helping each other out where necessary. James was struck by this when he and his family came home in 2001, and wishes to continue to help and support this community where he can.

We also have a magnificent array of wild life and beautiful surroundings again which we are keen to maintain and strengthen. Of great concern is the Red Squirrel population and the indigenous English Crayfish. We are currently looking at ways to help these two rare species from extinction on the estate and are actioning a Grey Squirrel trapping estate policy at present.

The well being of the estate is largely dependant upon a vibrant community which encourages working together along with suitable commercial and residential accommodation bringing new opportunities into our economy.
