Holiday let

Guests have access to the private grounds and the surrounding land which offers extensive wooded walks along the bank of the Wansbeck. Also worth a visit is the walled garden which provides fruit, flowers and vegetables for the house plus the newly opened shop and restaurant located in the kitchen garden.

A speciality of the gardens are the rhododendrons which cover the grounds with a multitude of colour in late May & early June. This along with their tranquility makes the gardens and grounds an ideal place to unwind.

The Apartment is self-catering with its own separate entrance sleeping 2-4 people, ideal for couples or small families. It is furnished to the highest standards of comfort and offers central heating, television, video, shower and bath.

The apartment comprises: entrance hall, sitting room with wood burning stove (logs provided), sofas and dining table and chairs, kitchen with electric cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer.

Upstairs: bedroom one with twin beds, bedroom two with a double bed (all bedding and bed linen supplied), bathroom with bath and shower (towels supplied) and an airing cupboard.

The Holiday Apartment is available throughout the year and for short breaks. Pets are welcome with a £5 surcharge for each animal. We expect them to be kept under strict control at all times.

Meldon Park is situated 8 miles from the market town of Morpeth and 15 miles north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and a 20 minute drive from Newcastle airport.

The private grounds are available plus all surrounding land offering extensive wooded walks along the banks of the river Wansbeck and many more exciting places to explore. The tranquillity of the kitchen garden and grounds, the elegance and grandeur of the house provide a venue for a relaxing and inspiring holiday.

Meldon is close to Cragside, built by a Tyneside industrialist, Sir William Armstrong. It was the first house lit by hydro-electric power and Sir William brought the railway to Rothbury to allow him to get to work. It is also close to Wallington, and Alnwick Castle and Gardens.

On a wet day you can go shopping at the Metro Centre, followed by drinks at the Millennium Bridge and lunch at the newly renovated Baltic Flour Mill.

Meldon  is ideally situated for golfing, fishing, riding and sailing. Or you may prefer visiting stately homes and gardens, bird watching or leisurely driving around the countryside. Full details of these and other activities are available in the apartment.

Or you could always venture further south to Tyneside and County Durham. English Christianity was cradled here, and the northern heart of the Industrial Revolution grew up on coal and steam. The pride of the North East, which flourishes in our great football teams, also flowers in a great celebration of our past – at such sites as Beamish – where the story of the region has literally been re-built.

HOW TO GET THERE:

From the south and north:

Leave the A1 north of Newcastle at Morpeth. Turn in and take the left hand drive through the stable yard leading to the house.  The apartment is on the left hand side of the house.
